While driving home from Belfast yesterday I was watching the light on the mountains, so vibrant and glowing out from the dimming day. There is never enough time to pull over at every glimpse to paint, so I concentrate on remembering the colors and shapes as they change before my eyes. There is so much beauty in this world still, it is astounding. I think perhaps the best medicine for jaded, disillusioned, depressed any ones would be to go take a drive before dusk, and watch the world settle in for the night. Yes, it uses gas, but one drive can tide you over for a long time, especially if you do some sketches from memory and expand on those in the passing days, or just write about it in your journal, or keep it in your heart and mind.
